Recently myself and Mr M went to London for a week and I thought I would share some of the highlights from our trip. We have been to London loads over the years and been to the main "sights" so this time we decided to stick to mainly one area of Shoreditch and have a pretty chilled weekend...
We were staying in Citizen M Shoreditch which was perfectly located for everything we wanted, as we wanted to be based in the East End. The hotel was less than a ten minute walk to the nearest tube for getting around the rest of London. Citizen M hotels are great and this place had the same amazing XXL comfy beds and chilled atmosphere that I have come to know from staying at their other hotels. We opted for breakfast, late checkout and took full advantage of the fab free films on offer at night and mood lighting operated from your very on in room Ipad. Who doesn't want to shower in different coloured lighting right?
After a slightly gloomy weathered walk along the Southbank we went to one of my favourite places the Tate Modern I have been to London lots of times and always find something new to look at in this incredible gallery which houses international modern contemporary art.
After a day's wandering we went to Dishoom for food which was round the corner from our hotel. Be warned this place is popular and doesn't take reservations unless it's for larger groups so be prepared to queue at busy times. We queued for around 20 mins and then headed to the bar where we were given a pager and told to wait until a table was free. I don't have any pics from inside as we were too busy enjoying ourselves, the buzzy atmosphere and sampling the drinks but after a LONG wait we were seated. I thought the food was really delicious, but Mr M did point out that we had waited for an hour and a half so maybe we were just really hungry? Anyway, I thought it was worth it.
On day 2 we met a friend for brunch and headed to Berners Tavern. This place is seriously gorgeous inside and located inside the London Edition Hotel.
I'm still daydreaming about the green velvet sofa in the reception and beautiful interiors.
We then headed to the Imperial War Museum which was incredible and so interesting. This is a must visit if you are into history, and there is so much to see and you can definitely spend a couple of hours here easily.

Later on we headed to the amazing Homeslice which was recommended to me by a friend. Again this place was really near our hotel and so a short stroll had us sat down and waiting for our MASSIVE 20 inch pizza which was fricken delicious. They also do individual slices, but we went for the full thing. No regrets!
On our last day we wondered around Shoreditch, Hoxton and Spitalfields market. It was great just soaking up the atmosphere and street art of which there was loads. I also had a great time checking out the vintage shops in and around Brick Lane, such as Absolute Vintage and Rokit where I picked up some amazing sunglasses.
We then headed to Boxpark to check out the pop up shops, street food and traders in this unique setting of lots of little units together.
Our last meal in London was at Hache which delivered a delicious burger and some sweet potato fries. Get. In. My. (very large after all this food) belly.
Our East End based London trip was pretty relaxed and filled with yummy food and catching up with old friends (Plus, Shoreditch is awesome). It's not the first time I have been to this fab city and certainly wont be the last as there is so much to see and do.
