Summer is just round the corner.... honest! And whilst we may not always see the sun here in Glasgow, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to try out some delicious dishes from the new Taste of Summer menu at Prezzo (like the amazing Seabass with spinach, lemon mint and roquito pearls but more of that later). So on a rainy Saturday night off I went into the city centre St Vincent Street branch to find out more.
To start with we went for the Italian sharing board which had a selection of five starters, hummous, crab bites, calamari which was light and crisp, mozzarella bites, flatbread and a selection of meats, dips and olives. So good!
We then tasted a selection of pasta dishes, top-bottom, pappardelle with chicken and n'duja, spaghetti with king prawns, lobster and crab tortelli and penne arrabbiata. My personal favourites of these were the king prawn spaghetti and the pappardelle with chicken and n'duja. There are plenty of pasta dishes to keep pasta lovers satisfied on the Prezzo Taste of Summer menu.
My favourite dish of the night was my main, which was the seabass. This delicious fresh dish has basil pesto, cannellini, edamame and mung beans, tomatoes, peas, spinach, mange tout lemon and chilli in the form of sweet roquito pearls, these are little balls of chilli and sweetness. It was so good! Mr M went for an executive "posh pepparroni" pizza (which was huge and had to be taken home!) and of course we couldn't say no to trying the truffle oil infused fries which were so yummy.
After a well needed break and a couple of glasses of wine we tried the desserts and Mr M went for a banoffee tiramisu which he assured me was delicious.
I had the mini dessert option which comes with a hot drink of your choice. I went for the vanilla cheesecake with salted caramel sauce (there were three to choose from) and an espresso and this was just enough to round the meal off with.
