Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in "Glam Plum Fulham"

Even though we are at the end of a lovely sunny weekend and technically I should be shelving all dark and mysterious make up until Autumn... (says who? Rules are made to be broken sometimes aren't they?) I am still a little bit in love with dark, vampy lipstick shades for the evenings and am finding it hard to let go of them just yet. This one from Rimmel is a current favourite, not just for the fab colour but also for its moisture giving properties...

Moisture Renew Lipsticks have been around for a little while from drugstore brand Rimmel and have recently underwent a little tweak of their packaging. The formula makes these really nice to use. Packed with vitamins A, C, and E and stops your lips from drying out due to containing hyluronic acid, amongst other things, this is a magic ingredient which helps smooth and plump the skin, helping to keep it hydrated. The lipstick is also SPF 20, offering added extra protection for the lips, and there's also natural collagen in there too.

I usually find that some of my matte dark lipsticks tend to be drying on the lips, but this formula has a buttery slightly sheeny finish, without compromising on colour, which went on smoothly and densely.

Glam Plum Fulham is a deep wine/plum shade with blue undertones which can usually help to make your teeth look whiter.

This was comfortable and creamy feeling on the lips, however, I would still use a lipbalm underneath it as is my preference, something matte like one of the Burts Bees sticks or the Nuxe Reve de Miel which is a great base for lipstick as it's a matte lipbalm and stops things being too slippy. So, if you fancy trying out a bold lipcolour but don't like the drying effects of some matte formulas then opting for a sheenier (is that a word...? It is now!) texture like this one may be better for you. There are 20 shades to choose from and I definitely think I will be opting for a Summer bright next... The amazing shade 660 "In Love With a Ginger" is next on my list I think to keep in with the hot orange lip trend for S/S'14.

Moisture Renew Lipsticks are priced at £6.49 and are available at Boots, where you can often find them on a 3 for 2. Result!
