Beauty Kitchen Workshop

One very cold, very wet Sunday afternoon in November I made this natural, beautiful smelling scrub! Yup, little old me. Want to know how I did it? Read on about my lovely afternoon spent at Beauty Kitchen...

Beauty Kitchen are a company based in Glasgow who's mission statement is that they believe in 100% natural, effective and affordable products. The Beauty Kitchen Experience allows people to take part in a super informative 2 hours workshop, test out some of the fab oils and smells on offer (there are 7 scents in the range) and then, best of all make your own product to take home! You can tailor your product to you making it completely unique and perfect for your own skin type.

What I like about the company is that they use locally resourced ingredients where possible and recycled packaging to keep it environmentally friendly.
The workshop I was involved in was where we learnt how to make a body scrub.

After a chat about the company and a much needed hot cup of tea, (we got a choice and to my surprise I said no to a glass of prosecco and went for tea as it was so cold outside I needed heating up!) we got to work. There were about 12 of us in the group and once we had decided what oils we wanted to go for (I chose a blend called "Chill Me" to relax and soothe, it contains ylang ylang, lavender, Clary sage, eucalyptus, geranium and rosemary amongst other goodies) this was mixed with our scrub base, which for me was Himalayan Salt, which has fine grains, other choices were sugar, both brown and white, sea salt and Epsom salts.

I added seaweed, a great skin soother and softener, then the oils blend and gave it a good mix.

I went to this workshop with some other lovely bloggers Kayleigh Lynne and Linsay who I met at the recent FABB event in Glasgow. Here are some shots of the girls hard at work on their scrubs!

Surely a beauty product is better and more satisfying to use if it's made by your own fair hand?!?

Once the product was finished it and put in your personalised jar it looked something like this...

Pretty impressive! Once you have used up your jar of scrub if you return the packaging to the shop you get 10% off you next purchase which is great. So after a day of product making we were treating to a fab scrub treatment and hand/arm massage by the lovely Josie who was taking the workshop (this lady knows her stuff and was so knowledgeable about oils, herbs and the benefits of each)

Beauty Kitchen also sell ready made gifts and products in their shop. All of which would make great Christmas presents or a perfect natural treat for yourself. I'm really pleased with my scrub as I know exactly what went into it, no nasty preservatives or chemicals for one and I have the satisfaction of saying that I made it myself!

*The Beauty Kitchen experience was gifted as part of the Fabb Blogger event. I was not paid in any way for this review.
